Following our environmental week, I bring you a speech by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. Here, she raises awareness of global warming and calls us to action. 


Now you've watched it, here are some questions. (Answers on comments)

    a) Greta was 8 years-old when she first heard of climate change. She was told to turn off lights, save energy, recycle paper and save resources.

    b) She felt into depression, lost 10 kg. She was also diagnosed with autism, OCD and selective speaking.

    c) She believes climate change is an urgent matter and we have to take action urgently; this attitude is not difficult to be judged as right and necessary.

    d) They must start reducing emissions by 15% every year.

    e) 200 species are extinct every day. The extinction rates are 1000-2000 times higher now than before.

    f) Rich countries need to reduce emissions so that poor countries start building essential structures not harming so much the environment.

    g) People said she should be at school and that she should study to become a scientist to "solve" the climate problem.

    h) Because she believes we need to talk about "action" and not "hope" to solve the environmental problem.
